Previously this week, social media influencer Anna Kalashnikova tried to acquire some earrings and a bag from Chanel in Dubai. The manager, she alleged, explained to her: “We know you will be taking buys to Russia, so we are not able to sell our brand’s things.”
Kalashnikova explained the transfer as “Russophobia in action”.
Closing down Russian small business
In early March, Chanel, alongside other major style houses LVMH, Kering, Hermès and Richemont, closed all its merchants in Russia in response to the war.
The manufacturer has given that confirmed it will now require consumers to pledge any purchases valued above €300 will not be taken again to Russia.
In a statement, Chanel discussed this is just to comply with trade sanctions that the EU and Switzerland have imposed on the nation.
“The most the latest EU and Swiss sanction laws contain a prohibition on the ‘sale, supply, transfer or export, right or indirectly, of luxury merchandise to any all-natural or authorized individual, entity or human body in Russia or for use in Russia’,” it browse.
